1. No this doesn't surprise me at all, hackers have been around for a long time, and it was bound to happen. To my knowledge, Snapchat was designed to send nudes without the risk of sexting. 
2. I think privacy should exist with electronically transmitting messages, but it doesn't. Whether it's big brother or hackers, electronic communications are not safe.
