1st amendment   freedom of religion, press, speech, assembly, and petition.

2nd amendment  right to bare arms

3rd amendment  soldiers cannot stay in houses without the owners consent

4th amendment   The government cannot search your house or belongings without a search warrant.

5th amendment   Sets out rules for how people are sentenced for the crime by the Grand Jury. Due process of law-going through the steps of legal proceedings. Prohibits double jeopardy- you cant be tried twice for the same crime until there is new evidence.

6th amendment  right to a speedy and impartial trial. The criminal is informed about their charges. You have the right to obtain witnesses. You have the right to get a lawyer even if you cannot afford one.

7th amendment   Trial by jury in certain civil cases (non-criminal cases).

8th amendment  Prohibits excessive fines or bans. Prohibits cruel and unusual punishment.

9th amendment  The rights not specifically granted to the people in the Bill of Rights, still belong to the people.

10th amendment  limits the powers of the federal government to those powers listed in the Constitution.
